Three drivers were arrested in Bolivia after authorities discovered a massive drug cache inside a charter bus decorated with the Brazilian football club's logo.

In a highly unusual international sports incident, Bolivian police seized 86.5 kilograms of marijuana hidden inside a charter bus bearing the branding of Brazilian football powerhouse São Paulo FC. The vehicle had been hired to transport the team's delegation during their visit to Bolivia for a Copa Sudamericana fixture. The interception took place on August 11, 2026, in the Locotal area of the Cochabamba region during a routine highway security inspection.

Local law enforcement officers discovered the contraband packed tightly in bags within the vehicle's storage compartments. Three drivers, all employees of the contracted private transportation firm, were immediately taken into custody. Despite the prominent club crest on the side of the bus, investigators quickly established that no players or coaching staff were present, nor were they connected to the illicit cargo.

The club has no connection with the vehicle or the illicit cargo seized. A third-party logistics company was hired to manage local transit. Due to scheduling changes, our delegation was assigned a replacement vehicle and never set foot inside the bus in question.
