New York Giants Pass Rusher Brian Burns Suffers Season-Ending Torn ACL

New York Giants star pass rusher Brian Burns suffered a torn ACL in the team’s 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans, an injury expected to end his season. Burns was injured in the fourth quarter while rushing the passer and had been playing through an ankle injury. His loss is a setback for the Giants, who are already without quarterback Jaxson Dart for the rest of the regular season because of a knee injury. Burns recorded 16.5 sacks last season.
After Burns went down, coach John Harbaugh said there was “some hope” the team had avoided the worst; an MRI later showed a torn right ACL, which was expected to require season-ending surgery.
Burns remained on the turf in visible pain after colliding with a Titans lineman, then walked to the sideline under his own power before going to the locker room.
Burns had not missed a game since 2020 and has amassed 71 sacks over his eight-year career.
The Giants’ quarterback Jaxson Dart had surgery to repair a meniscus and MCL injury in his left knee after being hurt in Week 2, according to ESPN’s report.
