Sony Will Skip CES 2027 and End Its Decades-Long Presence at the Technology Show

Sony will skip CES 2027, ending a decades-long presence at the Las Vegas technology show as it shifts attention toward entertainment content and creator-focused technologies. The company had already scaled back its presence at the most recent CES, where its Honda joint venture displayed the Afeela electric vehicle; that venture and its vehicle plans have since been discontinued. Sony’s withdrawal signals that CES is becoming less central to its strategy for showcasing products and services.
Sony products were shown at the first CES in 1967, underscoring the length of the company’s association with the event.
Sony’s spokesperson said neither Sony nor its affiliated companies plan to exhibit at the January 2027 show.
Sony and Honda said the Afeela plans were no longer feasible after Honda reassessed its electrification strategy; Sony expects the change not to substantially affect its financial condition, citing the venture’s asset-light operating model.
Sony had traditionally been one of CES’s largest exhibitors, and its keynote events drew large crowds.
