Leagues Schedule Candidate Forums Before Nov. 3

The League of Women Voters chapters of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton will hold a DuPage County Board District 4 forum at 9 a.m. on Sept. 25 at the Ray Morill Community Center in Wheaton. The event will feature two-year-term candidates Mary Ozog and Isobel Michaud, as well as four-year-term candidates Paula McGowan and Grant Eckhoff.

The League of Women Voters of Clark County plans four candidate forums over the month before the Nov. 3 election, with voters able to attend in person or watch via CVTV Channel 21/23 and the organization’s website, cvtv.org.

Nevada’s forums are being organized by a coalition manager from the Nevada Housing Justice Alliance alongside the Nevada Environmental Justice Coalition and Nevada Immigrant Coalition. Organizers say they want voters to question candidates about rent costs, climate change and the effects of the federal immigration crackdown, rather than treating voting as a one-time civic activity.

At Ashe County’s first Democratic forum, North Carolina House candidate Charlie Wallin criticized public-school voucher spending, saying that “half a billion, not million” dollars went to private schools the previous year and arguing that the money could have supported public schools, particularly in rural counties.
