Nuveen Funds Declare August 3 Monthly Dividends, Attracting Significant Investor Attention

JQC's ex-dividend date is July 15, with shareholders of record on July 15 receiving 0.0495 per share on August 3, and the fund emphasizes flexible allocations across investment-grade and below-investment-grade credit to capture income opportunities as market conditions shift.
NVG has seen notable hedge-fund and institutional activity in Q2, including Ramsey Quantitative Systems purchasing a new position valued at about $346,000, Melone Private Wealth LLC increasing its stake by 26.5%, Hennion & Walsh Asset Management Inc. expanding its stake, Worth Asset Management LLC initiating a new position, and Chapin Davis Inc. raising its stake by about 20.5%.
NAD was launched in July 2022 and is managed by Nuveen Asset Management, focusing on investment-grade municipal securities including general obligation and revenue bonds to provide current income.
NEA's ex-dividend date is July 15; the stock opened at $11.57, with a 50-day moving average of $11.53 and a 200-day moving average of $11.57, reflecting its positioning in the municipal-income space that yields about 7.0% and is exempt from federal AMT.
Nuveen announced monthly dividends across five closed-end funds, all set to pay on August 3 to shareholders of record July 15, according to Watchlist News. The payouts span municipal bond and credit income funds, with yields ranging from 7.0% to 12.3%.
The highest yield belongs to Nuveen Credit Strategies Income Fund (JQC), which will distribute $0.0495 per share — a 12.3% annualized yield. At the other end, Nuveen AMT-Free Quality Municipal Income Fund (NEA) yields about 7.0%, with a $0.068 per share payout.
Nuveen Global High Income Fund (JGH) will pay $0.1035 per share, yielding roughly 9.8%, according to Watchlist News. Nuveen AMT-Free Municipal Credit Income Fund (NVG) follows at $0.079 per share, good for a 7.4% yield. Nuveen Quality Municipal Income Fund (NAD) rounds out the group with a $0.0705 per share payment and a 7.1% yield.
All five funds are closed-end funds managed by Nuveen Asset Management. A closed-end fund raises a fixed amount of money and then trades on a stock exchange like a regular stock. Each fund targets a different slice of the income market, from high-yield credit to tax-exempt municipal bonds.
JQC stands out with its 12.3% yield — the highest in this group. The fund takes a flexible approach, spreading money across both investment-grade and below-investment-grade bonds. Investment-grade bonds are considered safer. Below-investment-grade bonds, sometimes called "junk bonds," carry more risk but pay more income.
This flexibility lets JQC shift its mix as market conditions change. The ex-dividend date is July 15, meaning investors must own shares before that date to receive the $0.0495 payment on August 3.
NVG drew notable institutional interest in the second quarter. Ramsey Quantitative Systems bought a brand-new position worth about $346,000. Melone Private Wealth LLC raised its stake by 26.5%. Worth Asset Management LLC also started a new position, and Chapin Davis Inc. grew its stake by roughly 20.5%, according to Watchlist News.
Hennion & Walsh Asset Management also expanded its NVG holdings during the period. The surge in institutional buying signals growing demand for tax-exempt municipal income. NVG pays $0.079 per share on August 3, delivering a 7.4% yield to investors who hold shares of record on July 15.
Three of the five funds — NEA, NVG, and NAD — focus on municipal bonds. These are bonds issued by state and local governments. Their income is typically exempt from federal taxes and from the federal Alternative Minimum Tax, or AMT. NEA opened recently at $11.57, with its 50-day and 200-day moving averages both near that level, showing steady price stability.
NAD launched in July 2022 and focuses on investment-grade municipal securities, including general obligation and revenue bonds. Ticker Report also noted that Nuveen's New York Municipal Value Fund (NNY) will pay a separate $0.03 per share dividend on August 3, yielding 4.1% — another piece of Nuveen's broad August income push.
