Police Identify Two Victims Killed in Early Morning DeWitt Car Crash

Two people died in a fiery car crash in upstate New York on August 19, according to WACH. Quavan U. Maupin, 26, from the Bronx and Jamilka A. Cirino, 21, from Syracuse were killed when their 2026 Kia sedan crashed around 12:12 a.m. The vehicle slammed into a tree on Franklin Park Drive in DeWitt, between St. Paul Drive and Deerfield Road.
A DeWitt police officer patrolling the Franklin Park neighborhood heard a loud crash and rushed to the scene WACH reported. Officers found the 2026 Kia sedan wrapped around a tree, with both occupants dead at the scene. The crash happened around 12:12 a.m. on August 19, but what caused the accident remains unclear.
The DeWitt Police Department identified the two victims after the deadly crash News3LV reported. Quavan U. Maupin was 26 years old and lived in the Bronx. Jamilka A. Cirino was 21 years old and lived in Syracuse. Both were inside the vehicle when it struck the tree.
Police have not yet released details about what caused the single-vehicle crash KMPH reported. The investigation is continuing as authorities try to determine why the Kia left the road. Investigators will look at factors like speed, road conditions, and whether the driver lost control.
