West Bend Church Launches Annual Food Drive Aiming to Top Previous Records

Churches in Westerly and North Stonington are offering worship and community programs, and Christ Church Westerly’s Blessing Box is seeking shelf-stable food and hygiene donations. A St. Louis-area community calendar lists a range of public events. In Slidell, Lamb of God Lutheran Church plans an open-mic fundraiser for One Way Love, which serves at-risk and homeless youth. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Bend has launched its annual Faith in Action food drive and aims to exceed last year’s 5,000-pound collection; it will also assemble 200 kits for foster families and local youth. A separate commentary highlights NFL players Caleb Downs, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Bo Nix for sharing their Christian faith and serving their communities.
Christ Church Westerly offers Sunday services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.; the 10 a.m. service is livestreamed, and nursery care and age-grouped Sunday School are available.
North Stonington’s Sunday worship is led by Rev. Susan Latourette, includes choir and church school, and is followed by conversation and Fair-Trade coffee and tea; the service is also livestreamed.
The St. Louis-area calendar includes a free seminar on recognizing scams, led by a Crestwood police officer and Cyber Sages STL; registration is required because space is limited.
Lamb of God Lutheran Church’s Sept. 25 fundraiser runs from 6 to 9 p.m.; organizers will accept gift-card donations as well as free-will contributions and provide food and refreshments.
Good Shepherd volunteers prepared 1,300 collection bags, distributed them around West Bend, and planned to retrieve filled bags on Sept. 26 for the Full Shelf Food Pantry. The church said its aim is to “put our Faith into Action” by offering tangible support to local families.
