Subaru's 2027 Lineup Introduces Hybrid Wilderness Trims and an Affordable New EV.

Forester interiors show a clear tech progression: base models use dual 7.0-inch displays, while most trims offer an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto; hybrids (including Wilderness hybrids) bring a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster as standard or optional, underscoring a shift toward larger, more integrated screens.
Forester Wilderness adds serious off-road hardware beyond the styling: 9.3 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, a hood decal, and anodized copper exterior accents to boost rugged credibility.
Outback Wilderness reinforces off-road intent with a truck-like grille, brush guards, and anodized copper accents; it rides on 17-inch wheels specifically for the Wilderness, while higher trims use larger wheels, and it also features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen with upgraded Harman Kardon audio in higher trims.
Subaru’s Uncharted EV lineup expands with an entry-level Premium FWD starting at $34,995 (before destination), offering features such as 18-inch alloys, a 14-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and EyeSight driver assists; the top GT adds 20-inch wheels and dual-motor power, with estimated ranges around 273–300 miles depending on configuration.
Subaru has officially priced its 2027 Uncharted EV starting at $34,995, making it the cheapest electric vehicle the brand has ever sold. PR Newswire reported the announcement on June 25, 2026, confirming the entry-level price holds flat from the 2026 debut that quickly outsold the Solterra within its first month on sale.
The Uncharted is not alone. Subaru is also rolling out a Forester Wilderness Hybrid and a refreshed Outback this fall. Together, the three vehicles mark the most aggressive push into electrification in the brand's history, according to Electrek.
The 2027 Uncharted comes in three trims. The base Premium FWD starts at $34,995 and puts out 221 horsepower with an estimated 308 miles of range. Step up to the Sport AWD at $39,795 or the top GT AWD at $43,795, and you get a dual-motor setup rated at 338 horsepower with 273 to 287 miles of range, according to The EV Report.
Every trim gets 18-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. The GT adds 20-inch wheels and more premium features. All 2027 Subaru EVs now use the NACS charging port, giving drivers native access to more than 25,000 Tesla Superchargers, The EV Report noted.
The Uncharted is built on the same platform as the Toyota C-HR EV, making it essentially a fraternal twin to that vehicle under the skin, according to Car and Driver. Critics like Tom Voelk noted this Toyota partnership was the only realistic path to hitting a sub-$35k price with over 300 miles of range.
The car measures 177.8 inches long — about 7 inches shorter than the Solterra — which Edmunds says gives it quick, nimble handling. However, reviewers also flagged the rear seat as cramped. Because the Uncharted is assembled in Japan, it may not qualify for the full U.S. federal EV tax credit under current IRA rules.
The 2027 Forester adds a Wilderness Hybrid trim for the first time. It delivers 194 horsepower from a Toyota-sourced hybrid system paired with Subaru's flat-four engine, Autoblog reported. Fuel economy improves 25% over the gas-only model. Ground clearance holds at 9.3 inches, keeping it competitive for off-road use.
The Wilderness trim also brings all-terrain tires, anodized copper exterior accents, and a hood decal. Inside, the hybrid trims get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster as standard. Base Forester models still use dual 7-inch displays, while most trims offer an 11.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Forester starts at roughly $31,550.
The 2027 Outback keeps the redesigned look it got last year and adds small but meaningful tech upgrades in higher trims: a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, according to Autoblog. All Outbacks still come standard with all-wheel drive and a CVT transmission.
The Outback Wilderness trim stands out with a truck-style grille, brush guards, and anodized copper accents. It rides on 17-inch wheels built for off-road use. Higher Outback trims use larger wheels. Hybrid variants for the Outback are expected in the near term, signaling that Subaru plans to electrify the entire lineup gradually, Autoblog reported.
