Verizon and Corning Sign Multibillion-Dollar Fiber Deal to Power AI Infrastructure

Verizon Business CEO Kyle Malady said, “Securing this volume of fiber allows us to continue building the network of the future at an unprecedented scale.”
Verizon said high-density fiber is critical for the scale of large language models because AI workloads require near-zero latency and massive data throughput.
Malady described the plan as a “single, converged architecture” that unites mobile connectivity and broadband for families and businesses while creating the high-capacity, low-latency backbone demanded by AI hyperscalers.
Following the announcement, Corning shares rose more than 7% on the New York Stock Exchange, while Verizon shares gained 0.64%.
