Y Intercept Hong Kong Ltd made a string of bold portfolio moves in the first quarter, sharply boosting stakes in U.S. and European stocks. The Hong Kong-based fund grew its Uber Technologies position by 481.7%, adding 165,097 shares to reach 199,368 shares worth about $14.3 million, according to Watchlist News.
The firm also opened brand-new positions in Snowflake, Barclays, and Sysco Corporation. These moves place Y Intercept among a wave of large funds actively reshaping their holdings this quarter, alongside giants like Norges Bank and Vanguard.
Y Intercept's Uber stake jumped nearly fivefold in Q1. The fund bought 165,097 additional shares, bringing its total to 199,368 shares valued at roughly $14.3 million. That makes Uber one of its largest disclosed U.S. equity positions, according to Ticker Report.
The fund also built a fresh Snowflake position from scratch. It now holds 88,816 shares worth about $13.4 million. Snowflake stock recently opened at $259.67 per share, with a market cap near $90 billion. The stock carries a beta of 1.35, meaning it swings harder than the broader market.
Y Intercept moved beyond tech by opening a new position in Barclays PLC. The fund bought 745,343 shares valued at about $15.8 million. Barclays started the quarter at $27.74 per share and has traded in a 52-week range of $18.10 to $28.00. The bank carries a debt-to-equity ratio of 5.94.
The firm also picked up 195,666 shares of Sysco Corporation, worth around $14.0 million. Sysco is a food distribution giant, supplying restaurants and institutions across North America. This is a new position for Y Intercept, showing a clear push into defensive, non-tech names.
Y Intercept grew its First Hawaiian position by 122.8% in Q1. It added 226,747 shares, bringing the total to 411,419 shares valued at about $10.1 million. First Hawaiian is a regional bank based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The enlarged stake signals confidence in regional U.S. banking despite a turbulent rate environment.
Y Intercept is not alone in its active repositioning. Norges Bank, Norway's massive sovereign wealth fund, opened a new stake in Sysco during the fourth quarter. That position was valued at about $542.78 million — far larger than Y Intercept's own Sysco buy. Vanguard and Marshall Wace have also adjusted holdings in several of the same names.
The parallel moves by multiple large funds suggest broad institutional conviction in certain sectors. Tech, banking, and food distribution all saw fresh money flow in. According to Ticker Report, Y Intercept also ramped up positions in HubSpot by 516.3% and Atlassian by 424.1% during the same quarter, rounding out a sweeping portfolio overhaul.
