Trent Grisham Powers Yankees to 3-1 Victory Over Orioles as Carlos Rodón Returns

Grisham hit his 17th homer of the season in the third inning and added a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh, marking his second multi-RBI game in seven days.
Coby Mayo belted the Orioles' lone extra-base hit of the night with a solo homer.
Baltimore stranded eight runners and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
Grisham has been hot of late, with 16 hits in 53 at-bats (.302) over his past 13 games since Aug. 3, including six homers and 12 RBIs.
Carlos Rodón returned from the injured list and worked four innings, allowing Mayo’s 17th homer while throwing 66 pitches (39 strikes) in his first start since June 28 due to elbow inflammation.
Trent Grisham did it all on Wednesday night, homering and driving in all three New York runs as the Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 at Camden Yards. Grisham's go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning proved to be the difference, according to WBAL.
The win keeps New York rolling in the American League wild-card race. It came despite Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger both sitting out due to injuries, per Heavy.
Grisham opened the scoring in the third inning with his 17th home run of the season. He then came back in the seventh with a two-run single that broke a 1-1 tie and gave New York the lead for good. It was his second multi-RBI game in just seven days, according to WBAL.
Grisham has been one of baseball's hottest hitters recently. Over his last 13 games since August 3, he is batting .302 — 16 hits in 53 at-bats — with six home runs and 12 RBIs. His season line now sits at .224/.313/.426, per The Chronicle.
Carlos Rodón started for New York in his first outing since June 28. He had missed months with elbow inflammation. Rodón worked four innings, throwing 66 pitches — 39 for strikes — before leaving with the game still in reach, according to 12 News Now.
The only damage against Rodón came from Coby Mayo, who crushed his 17th homer of the season for Baltimore's lone run. That solo shot was also the Orioles' only extra-base hit of the entire night.
After Rodón exited, the Yankees' bullpen took over and held firm. Yerry De los Santos worked two scoreless innings. Brent Headrick, Fernando Cruz, and Paul Blackburn each added clean work. David Bednar closed it out to earn his 28th save of the season, per WBAL.
New York held Baltimore to just four hits total. The Orioles stranded eight runners and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Those missed chances proved fatal, even with starter Shane Baz striking out a season-high 10 batters over 6⅓ innings, according to Cairns Post.
Baltimore's Shane Baz was sharp on the mound. His 10 strikeouts set a new personal best for the season. But he was tagged for all three Yankees runs, including Grisham's homer and the decisive seventh-inning single. Strong numbers were not enough to earn the win, per Heavy.
