Ukrainian Basketball Player Kate Koval Leaves LSU Following Addition of Russian Teammate

Ukrainian basketball player Kate Koval has announced she left LSU due to the school's decision to bring in Russian player, Russian player Alex Minaeva. Koval, whose father serves in the Ukrainian military, expressed concern about the impact of the Russian invasion on her and her family. She is hoping the NCAA will allow her to play elsewhere this season. LSU coach Kim Mulkey had previously indicated Koval was leaving for personal reasons and the program would respect her privacy regarding her decision. Kaval averaged 8.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 16.6 minutes in 35 games for LSU last season.
