PolSIR will study ice clouds in tropical regions using two 16U CubeSats, each weighing about 36 kilograms. TSIS-2 will measure the Sun's energy output to help scientists understand climate and weather patterns. Both missions will lift off from Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand, according to MarketWatch.

Rocket Lab currently averages one launch every 11 days, MarketWatch reported. Earlier in 2026, Rocket Lab demonstrated a 16-hour launch-notice turnaround, a record that helped build its case for time-sensitive government contracts.
The RKLB stock surge of 5% after the announcement reflects broader investor confidence. Wall Street sees these wins as proof that Rocket Lab's dedicated-launch model can chip away at SpaceX's rideshare dominance for government science payloads. The company is also preparing to debut its larger Neutron rocket in late 2026, which could open the door to even bigger NASA contracts.
