60 Minutes Opens 59th Season on CBS Without Addressing Leadership Turmoil

The newsmagazine "60 Minutes" opened its 59th season on CBS-TV without any mention of off-season turmoil. The show's top producer, two correspondents, and new chief, Bari Weiss, have all been fired and replaced by Nick Bilton, a former technology columnist and documentarian, replacing Tanya Simon. One of the show's most famous faces, Scott Pelley, was absent following a confrontation with bosses and two other correspondents were dismissed. This is part of a broader upheaval at CBS News after Weiss was named as editor-in-chief by parent company Paramount.
