Ruby Rose Opens Up About Past Injuries and Reality Show Struggles

On the premiere of *Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test*, Ruby Rose described the lasting impact of a 2019 *Batwoman* stunt injury that required emergency neck surgery and left her feeling she had lost four years of her life. She said she has two replacement discs and that the injury affected her confidence and performance on the show, including how she made a helicopter jump; she considered quitting because she feared another injury could undo her recovery. After filming, Rose broke several ribs in a fall while gardening. Warner Bros. has disputed her claims that conditions on the *Batwoman* set were unsafe. Separately, 12-year-old cancer survivor and Childhood Cancer Ireland ambassador Ruby Shannon spoke about survivors’ challenges and the charity’s awareness campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
After a nighttime obstacle course, Rose struggled to lift a heavy bag overhead, holding up the group. She said that feeling she was failing tasks or slowing others could undermine her confidence; a staff member urged her on, saying, “I watched you as a superhero — come on!”
The helicopter challenge also led to Brandi Glanville being medically withdrawn after she sustained an injury, leaving 14 celebrities in the competition.
As part of its awareness campaign, Childhood Cancer Ireland installed an oversized transparent school bag at Dundrum Town, using the familiar school item to represent challenges that may not be visible to others.
