Vogue World Milano transforms the fashion week opening with a celebration of Italian craftsmanship and AI.

Vogue World: Milano was the event’s fifth edition, following showcases in New York, London, Paris and Hollywood; the previous four editions raised more than $7 million for local charities.
Anna Wintour described Milan as embodying “the perfect balance between craft and creativity,” adding that the event would be Vogue World’s “biggest celebration yet of fashion’s human touch.”
The event’s production team included Anna Wintour and Francesca Ragazzi, with Juan Costa Paz as creative director, Lady Amanda Harlech leading fashion, Charm La’Donna handling choreography and Judith Clark serving as show curator.
Each LoveFrom “libellula” was folded by hand from a single sheet of paper without glue. The team used OpenAI’s Codex to simulate the Galleria and tested releases in both an airplane hangar and the venue to assess the objects’ aerodynamics.
Jony Ive said the finale was intended to “occupy the whole space” and connect the Galleria’s ceiling to its floor, drawing an analogy to the thousands of tiles in a mosaic.
Vogue World: Milano transformed Milan's historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II into a sprawling celebration of Italian craftsmanship and human creativity during the opening night of Milan Fashion Week. Vogue and creative director Juan Costa Paz staged thematic acts tracing Italy's artistic heritage—from Renaissance textiles to La Dolce Vita glamour to speculative future fashion—featuring one-of-a-kind creations from Prada, Armani, Versace, Ferragamo and Gucci. The fifth edition of the traveling event raised funds for the Quarto Oggiaro Library in northwestern Milan.
The finale sent more than 6,000 hand-folded paper "libellula" objects cascading through the Galleria's dome. Each dragonfly-inspired object, designed by LoveFrom and developed using OpenAI's Codex and aerodynamic testing, was folded by hand from a single sheet with no glue. Jony Ive said the spectacle was meant to "occupy the whole space" and connect the Galleria's ceiling to its floor like a massive mosaic.
Vogue World: Milano marked the fifth installment of Vogue's traveling spectacle, following editions in New York, London, Paris and Hollywood. The previous four events raised more than $7 million for local charities. Anna Wintour described Milan as embodying "the perfect balance between craft and creativity," calling this edition the "biggest celebration yet of fashion's human touch."
The event's production team included Anna Wintour, Francesca Ragazzi, and fashion director Lady Amanda Harlech, with Charm La'Donna handling choreography and Judith Clark serving as show curator. Vogue structured the show to trace Italy's journey from Renaissance manufacturing to modern sustainability. Each thematic act highlighted a different chapter of Italian design and innovation across fashion, textiles, and industrial tailoring.
Creating the "libellula" finale required months of engineering and testing. The LoveFrom design team used OpenAI's Codex to simulate the Galleria's airflow patterns and test the paper objects' aerodynamics. LoveFrom conducted release tests in both an airplane hangar and inside the actual venue to ensure the 6,000+ dragonflies would fall and drift as intended through the 160-year-old dome.
The event brought together models, celebrities and performers to walk through the thematic acts. Yahoo News reported that actress Mikey Madison attended in a striking red minidress with a sleek satin finish. The star-studded guest list underscored Vogue's focus on elevating human artistry and craft at a moment when artificial intelligence is reshaping creative industries worldwide.
