"Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu" arrives digitally July 21, with bonus content.

In its domestic run, The Mandalorian and Grogu opened to about $98 million over the Memorial Day weekend, but the box office declined sharply and the film was eventually outsold by indie horror titles Backrooms and Obsession.
Globally the film has earned roughly $342 million, and it has been described as the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie ever released.
The home-release package includes extensive behind-the-scenes content such as Crafting The Mandalorian and Grogu, Biomes—From Snow to Swamp, Welcome to Shakari, and Dejarik for Real, plus an audio commentary by Jon Favreau.
Premium editions for home video include a 4K UHD SteelBook and the Beskar Collector’s Edition with exclusive packaging and metal posters (US-only).
The film introduces new characters such as Rota the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver's Colonel Ward, expanding Star Wars beyond the Skywalker saga.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is heading to living rooms fast. Disney and Lucasfilm announced the film will hit digital platforms on July 21, followed by 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on August 25, according to JoBlo and Hollywood Outbreak.
The move comes as the film wraps a disappointing theatrical run. Despite opening to roughly $98 million over Memorial Day weekend, the movie has earned just $342 million worldwide — making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film ever released, Pocket-Lint reported.
The Mandalorian and Grogu opened big but fell hard. After its $98 million Memorial Day debut, ticket sales dropped sharply week over week. The film was eventually outsold by indie horror titles Backrooms and Obsession — a stunning fall for a major Star Wars release, Pocket-Lint noted.
The $342 million global total puts it below Solo: A Star Wars Story, the previous low-water mark for live-action Star Wars at the box office. Disney has not publicly explained the underperformance, but critics pointed to tepid marketing and mixed audience reception leading up to release.
The July 21 digital release will include a full suite of bonus features. According to JoBlo, viewers will get featurettes such as Crafting The Mandalorian and Grogu, Biomes—From Snow to Swamp, Welcome to Shakari, and Dejarik for Real. Director Jon Favreau also recorded an audio commentary track.
The bonus content goes deep behind the camera. It covers puppetry, miniatures, sound design, and the creation of new creatures and worlds. These extras are designed to reward longtime fans and pull in newcomers curious about how the Star Wars universe gets built from scratch.
Physical media fans get two premium options on August 25. Disney is releasing a 4K UHD SteelBook and a Beskar Collector's Edition. The Beskar edition features exclusive packaging and metal posters, Hollywood Outbreak reported. Both editions are available only in the United States.
The standard 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray versions will also arrive the same day. Bellingham Herald noted the release is available across major digital retailers. Amazon Prime Video is among the platforms confirmed to carry the film starting July 21.
The film brings fresh faces to the Star Wars galaxy. Sigourney Weaver plays Colonel Ward, and Jeremy Allen White also joins the cast alongside returning star Pedro Pascal, News Break reported. The story moves beyond the Skywalker saga into new territory centered on the Mandalorian world.
A new character named Rota the Hutt also makes an appearance. Lucasfilm appears to be using the film to open doors to new storylines and corners of the galaxy. The home release is positioned as a second chance to build the audience that theaters did not fully deliver.
