Samsung Begins Mass Production of PM1763 PCIe 6.0 SSDs for Next-Gen AI Servers

PM1763 is Samsung's first PCIe 6.0 solid-state drive.

Samsung notes the PM1763 can move 100GB of data in about 3.5 seconds for certain workloads.
Samsung has begun mass production of the PM1763, its first PCIe 6.0 enterprise solid-state drive, built to power next-generation AI servers and high-performance computing workloads. Samsung says the drive hits 28,400 MB/s sequential read speeds — nearly double the performance of its predecessor, the PM1753.
The PM1763 pairs a 4 nm controller with Samsung's 9th-generation V-NAND flash memory. It can load a 40 GB large language model in just 1.4 seconds and move 100 GB of data in roughly 3.5 seconds, according to Samsung.
The PM1763 delivers up to 28,400 MB/s sequential reads and 21,900 MB/s sequential writes. Club 386 notes those figures almost double what Samsung's PM1753 could manage. That is a significant leap for enterprise storage, where moving large datasets quickly is critical.
Samsung also claims the PM1763 is up to 1.8x more power-efficient than its predecessor. That matters in large data centers running thousands of drives around the clock. Better efficiency means lower electricity bills and less heat to manage.
The PM1763 comes in three form factors: E1.S, E3.S, and U.2. These are standard shapes used in modern server racks. GameGPU reports the drive uses direct-to-chip liquid cooling, which lets it sustain peak speeds even under heavy, non-stop workloads.
Capacities start at 4 TB, 8 TB, and 16 TB. Samsung says future versions could scale all the way up to 64 TB. That kind of density makes the PM1763 a strong fit for AI training jobs that crunch enormous datasets in one pass.
The PM1763 includes post-quantum cryptography — encryption strong enough to resist attacks from future quantum computers. It also supports TD Device Interface Security Protocol. Yahoo Tech notes these features are aimed at protecting sensitive data as quantum computing matures.
Post-quantum cryptography uses math problems that even quantum computers struggle to crack. Adding it to a storage drive at this level is unusual and signals that Samsung is pitching the PM1763 at clients who handle highly sensitive or regulated data.

Club 386 reports Samsung is positioning PCIe 6.0 as the new standard for AI server storage. PCIe 6.0 doubles the bandwidth of PCIe 5.0, the current mainstream interface. As AI models keep growing in size, storage that can keep up with the processor becomes the key bottleneck to solve.
