Compound Planning Inc. made big moves in its portfolio during the first quarter, sharply boosting several ETF positions while trimming others. The most striking change: a 144.5% jump in its State Street SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF (SPYM) stake, bringing it to 86,854 shares worth about $6.65 million, according to Watchlist News.
The firm also cut its Vanguard Small-Cap ETF (VB) holding by 11.4% and reduced its Robinhood Markets (HOOD) position by 2.7%. Taken together, the moves show a firm actively reshuffling its bets across large-cap, international, growth, and small-cap stocks.
Compound Planning's SPYM position grew from roughly 35,600 shares to 86,854 shares in just three months, per Watchlist News. That's a 144.5% increase. The ETF opened recently at $86.91 per share. Its 52-week range runs from $72.86 to $89.52. The 50-day moving average sits at $87.69, just above the 200-day average of $83.31.
The big buy signals confidence in large-cap U.S. stocks. SPYM tracks the S&P 500, which covers the 500 biggest U.S. companies. By more than doubling this stake, Compound Planning made a clear bet on broad American equity exposure heading into the second quarter.
Compound Planning also pushed deeper into international stocks. It bought 37,559 new shares of the iShares Core MSCI EAFE ETF (IEFA), lifting its total to 247,127 shares worth about $22.37 million — a 17.9% increase, according to Watchlist News. IEFA covers developed markets outside the U.S. and Canada, including Europe, Japan, and Australia.
IEFA opened recently at $95.76. Its 50-day moving average is $96.82, while the 200-day average is $95.00. The firm also raised its iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF (IWF) position by 48.5% to 38,238 shares worth around $16.31 million. IWF opened at $118.59, well below its 50-day moving average of $122.93.
Not all positions grew. Compound Planning sold 13,211 shares of Robinhood Markets (HOOD) during the quarter, leaving it with 478,464 shares worth about $33.16 million — a 2.7% cut, per Watchlist News. HOOD is still the firm's 21st-largest holding and makes up roughly 1% of its total portfolio.
The firm also cut its Vanguard Small-Cap ETF (VB) stake by 11.4% to 137,137 shares worth about $35.92 million. VB ranks 19th in the portfolio at about 1.1% of holdings. Meanwhile, Ticker Report noted Compound Planning also sold 93,327 shares of the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND), reducing that position by 12.2%.
The Q1 filings paint a clear picture. Compound Planning is moving money away from bonds, small-cap stocks, and speculative names like Robinhood. It is putting that money into large U.S. companies, international developed markets, and growth stocks. These are classic moves for a firm that wants more stability and upside from stronger sectors.
It also boosted its Vanguard Small-Cap Growth ETF (VBK) position by 11.2% to a stake worth $11.45 million, per Watchlist News. That shows it still wants some small-cap exposure — just tilted toward growth. Overall, the rebalancing reflects a deliberate shift in how the firm sees risk and opportunity heading into the rest of 2025.
