Chatham Cyclist Shawn VanGassen Returns Home To Ride For Alzheimer's Awareness

Chatham cyclist Shawn VanGassen will embark on a ride on Saturday, September 12, starting from the Enbridge Gas parking lot on Grand Avenue West, travelling to Prairie Siding and then returning. Last year, he cycled 515 kilometres while making 25 round trips in 16 hours. The ride is also a way to commemorate world Alzheimer's month. VanGassesen, who lives in San Diego, will donate a dollar for every kilometre he rides, just as he did last year. His mother died in August at age 81. Despite his extensive training, VanGasseden's fondest cycling memories are from Chatham.
