CISF Deployed at New NTA Office Following NEET Leak Controversy

The National Testing Agency has moved its confidential operations to a new office at the Government of India Press Building on Minto Road, where 39 CISF personnel will provide security and enforce tighter access controls. Measures include frisking, baggage X-ray screening and metal detectors, with movement in designated confidential areas monitored. The changes follow the NEET-UG paper-leak controversy; a CBI chargesheet cited inadequate screening and the absence of a dedicated live CCTV monitoring room at the NTA’s previous office.
The NEET-UG leak controversy led to the resignation of then Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
After Pradhan’s resignation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a high-powered task force led by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani to recommend ways to make the exam system leakproof; the panel had yet to submit its report.
The CBI chargesheet identified three subject experts as primary sources of the leak and alleged they took briefs from the question papers on small chits made from plain sheets supplied for rough work and translation.
The NTA was established in 2017 under the Ministry of Education to conduct fair, transparent and standardised examinations, and had operated from its Okhla office before moving its sensitive operations.
