Google Cloud and Nokia Integrate Gemini AI Agents to Transform Telecom Network Operations

Nokia and Google Cloud framed the approach as “a structured series of individual software products,” arguing that each of the six agents is a discrete asset with its own lifecycle management needs—rather than “dropping an unproven, monolithic model into live infrastructure.”
In their announcement, the companies said the initiative is meant to help providers “lower operational costs, rapidly resolve network issues, and move toward fully automated, self-driving operations,” adding that “the router and event triage agents are already fully functional.”
The integration specifically uses Google’s Agent Developer Kit together with two named communication protocols—Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A)—to let agents communicate with telecom network APIs and with each other.
The modular rollout is expected to expand across Nokia’s broader portfolio, including its Unified Inventory and Data Suite applications, not just the Assurance Center workflows.
The partnership’s timeline includes earlier foundations: Nokia and Google Cloud signed a five-year deal in 2020 for Nokia’s IT migration to Google Cloud, Nokia APIs launched on Google Cloud Marketplace in July 2025, and the new agentic partnership was announced at MWC Barcelona on March 3, 2026.

Nokia counters that the modular design — with human approval at critical control points — is specifically built to increase oversight, not reduce it.
