Charli XCX Plans Global Cinema Listening Sessions for New Album 'Music, Fashion, Film'

The album cover is a real, non-AI photo shot by Charli’s frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri.
In Australia, the listening events will be held in Elsternwick (Victoria) and Newtown (New South Wales) on July 10.
Charli XCX has shared handwritten lyric snippets from the album on a private B‑side account, including lines such as “Me and my friends / we go out / we take pictures / and make stuff together / and sometimes we cry / we kiss each other / real incestous vibes.”
The global listening events extend beyond the cities listed in the summary and include additional destinations such as Seattle, Denver, and Toronto (among others) as part of the rollout.
Charli XCX is taking her upcoming seventh album on the road — before it even drops. The British pop star has announced 25 immersive listening events at independent cinemas worldwide ahead of the July 24, 2026 release of Music, Fashion, Film, according to Entertainment Now.
The 11-track, roughly 30-minute album already has three singles out — Rock Music, SS26, and Wink Wink. Now fans in cities from Sydney to Seattle will get to hear the full thing weeks early.
The listening sessions run July 9–11, all hosted at independent movie theatres. Cities include London, Berlin, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, and Toronto, The Music reported. That is a wide net for a rollout that positions the album as a cultural event, not just a record release.
Fans can RSVP through Charli's official website. The events are designed to feel immersive — part concert, part cinema experience — fitting for an album whose title nods to three creative worlds at once.
Australian fans will catch the sessions on July 10, Happy Mag confirmed. The Melbourne show is in Elsternwick, Victoria. The Sydney show is in Newtown, New South Wales. Auckland, New Zealand also has a July 10 date lined up.
Tone Deaf noted that the sessions will be held in independent theatres — a deliberate choice that fits the album's art-house tone. Details on exact venues and RSVP links are available on Charli's site.
The album cover is a black-and-white photo of musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The three figures represent the music, fashion, and film themes baked into the album's title. Crucially, the image is a real photograph — not AI-generated — shot by Charli's frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri.
The cover is one of the clearest signals yet that Music, Fashion, Film is a tonal shift from BRAT, her 2024 breakout record. That album was neon-green and chaotic. This one looks quieter, more intentional.
Charli has been teasing the album through a private B-side Instagram account, sharing handwritten lyric snippets from every track. In Music Blog reported that one snippet reads: "Me and my friends / we go out / we take pictures / and make stuff together / and sometimes we cry / we kiss each other / real incestous vibes."
The posts range from playful to deeply personal. Themes of identity and vulnerability run through them — a different register from her BRAT-era sound. Charli has also teased one unnamed collaborator on the album, but has not revealed who it is yet.
