Clippers Avoid Severe Penalties by Trading Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors

The Los Angeles Clippers have avoided a death penalty by trading Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for a package that includes Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-year pick swap and two second-round selections. This move could allow the Clippers to make better decisions, hopefully with better decision-makers. The NBA has penalized the Clippers for all their salary-cap-circumventing for Leonard, who reportedly will return to Toronto for a second-time championship. The trade was completed after the Raptors delayed it pending the results of the NBA's investigation. Despite this, the Clippers have been criticized for not securing a championship. They need to replace Lawrence Frank, their president of basketball operations, with someone with a better taste in stars.
