Nintendo Switch 2 Gains Third-Party Games, 007 Delayed

The Switch 2 version of It Takes Two is being developed by Turn Me Up Games rather than Hazelight directly, and its release is scheduled for Oct. 16 in South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand because of regional time-zone differences.
Players using It Takes Two’s Friend’s Pass will need to install the free trial and have a supported platform account to access the full cooperative campaign with an owner of the game.
007 First Light sold more than one million copies in its first 24 hours and surpassed four million copies sold by August, according to the report.
Amazon Games, which assumed publishing rights for future James Bond titles during development of 007 First Light, has already confirmed that a sequel is planned.
The delay is part of a broader pattern for demanding third-party ports: Elden Ring’s Switch 2 release was also postponed, with its launch moved to August 2026 to allow more time to optimize performance.
Nintendo Switch 2 is gaining momentum with major third-party games, as Ixbt reports the console has sold nearly 20 million units. It Takes Two arrives October 15 for $39.99 with improved graphics and cross-play features, plus a free Friend's Pass that lets owners invite another player to experience the full cooperative campaign. But 007 First Light faces a setback, with Gamerant reporting IO Interactive has delayed its Switch 2 release to March 2027 to improve performance and polish.
It Takes Two launches October 15 (October 16 in Asia-Pacific regions) with enhanced visuals and smoother performance than the original Switch version. Noobfeed notes the game costs $39.99 and includes cross-play across multiple platforms. Existing Switch owners get a free upgrade. The Friend's Pass is a major feature — it lets one player invite a friend to play the full campaign together without that friend buying the game.
IO Interactive is pushing 007 First Light's Switch 2 launch from 2026 to March 2027. The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in May and has sold more than four million copies. Gamerant reports IO Interactive wants more time to optimize performance and polish the port. The repeated delays highlight how difficult it is to bring demanding triple-A games to Nintendo's hardware.
Bond isn't the only game facing Switch 2 delays. Gamerant notes that Elden Ring's Switch 2 release was postponed to August 2026 for similar performance reasons. Gamerant also reports that Amazon Games, which now publishes James Bond games, has already confirmed a sequel is planned. These delays suggest Switch 2 ports require significant optimization work that developers underestimated.
