Disney's Magic of Animation attraction opens September 2026 at reimagined Hollywood Studios

Off the Page transforms character meet-and-greets into interactive depictions of actual animation departments, with Mulan in Story, Rapunzel in Layout, Chip ’n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation, Donald and Daisy in Computer Animation, Goofy in Lighting, and Stitch in Effects.
Drawn to Wonderland is an indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair's concept art for Alice in Wonderland, featuring Mad Tea Party, Mad Hatter's House, Queen of Hearts' Rose Garden, and the Cheshire Cat's Tulgey Wood designed for active, imaginative play.
The building is a Roy E. Disney Animation Building replica topped with Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat and it replaces the former Star Wars Launch Bay space, signaling a direct link to the Burbank studio design.
The Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard transformation has added greenery and richer theming, turning a previously barren area into a more vibrant hub that has already drawn crowds.
Beyond The Magic of Disney Animation, the surrounding park refresh includes Monstropolis replacing Muppets Courtyard and a new suspended roller coaster, illustrating broader changes to Hollywood Studios’ reimagined spaces.
Disney has set September 14, 2026 as the opening date for The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney's Hollywood Studios, according to Theme Park Insider and FOX 35 Orlando. The new attraction will take over a large building at the end of the reimagined Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard, replacing the former Star Wars: Launch Bay space.
The building is a replica of the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building from Burbank, topped with Mickey's Sorcerer Hat. It brings together character meet-and-greets, an indoor playground, a drawing class, and an animatronic Olaf — all under one roof, The Main Street Mouse reported.
The centerpiece experience, Off the Page, reimagines character meet-and-greets as interactive versions of real Disney animation departments. Mulan greets guests in Story, Rapunzel in Layout, and Chip 'n' Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation. Donald and Daisy Duck are in Computer Animation, Goofy in Lighting, and Stitch in Effects, according to The Main Street Mouse.
Each space mirrors how those departments actually function inside a real animation studio. Guests don't just take a photo — they step into the world where that character's story was built. It is a direct, hands-on link to the creative process behind Disney's animated films.
Drawn to Wonderland is an indoor playground built around the concept art Mary Blair created for Alice in Wonderland. It includes four distinct areas: the Mad Tea Party, Mad Hatter's House, the Queen of Hearts' Rose Garden, and the Cheshire Cat's Tulgey Wood. The space is designed for active, imaginative play, The Main Street Mouse noted.
Other experiences inside the building include Olaf Draws, a step-by-step drawing class hosted by an animatronic Olaf from Frozen. There is also the Once Upon A Studio Theater, which ties into Disney's animation legacy. The Orlando Sentinel confirmed all four experiences will be ready when the doors open on September 14.
The building sits inside the newly redesigned Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard, which replaced the old Animation Courtyard area. Disney added greenery, richer theming, and a more vibrant look to a space that was once considered plain and unwelcoming. FOX 35 Orlando reported the area has already drawn crowds since the outdoor changes were made.
The courtyard refresh is part of a broader rebranding of the park's creative district as The Walt Disney Studios. The Magic of Disney Animation is the anchor of that effort — a permanent, large-scale tribute to the art form that built the company.
The animation attraction is not the only big change coming to Hollywood Studios. Monstropolis is set to replace the old Muppets Courtyard, and a new suspended roller coaster is also planned for the park. Together, these projects show Disney is rethinking large sections of Hollywood Studios from the ground up.
Theme Park Insider noted the September 14 opening is the clearest sign yet of how quickly the park's reimagined spaces are taking shape. For families, the Magic of Disney Animation offers something the park has not had in years — a place focused entirely on storytelling, art, and classic Disney characters.
