Montrose Port secures two major offshore wind investments expected to create 180 jobs.

Montrose Port is set to gain two offshore-wind investments: Subsea Micropiles plans to build a £5 million factory making components for deep-water turbines, supported by £6.7 million from the Scottish National Investment Bank and £1.45 million from Scottish Enterprise, with about 80 jobs expected. Separately, SSE has named the port its preferred location for the operations and maintenance base for the planned 1.4-gigawatt Berwick Bank B project, which is expected to create around 100 full-time jobs and support about 30 construction jobs during redevelopment of port offices. Scottish leaders said the projects could strengthen local supply chains, skills and economic benefits as Scotland expands offshore wind.
Subsea Micropiles says its Montrose-made components could serve both Scottish offshore-wind projects and international markets; chief executive Derek Robertson described Scotland as an important base for the company’s growth.
The Berwick Bank B wind farm could use up to 307 turbines to generate enough electricity to power as many as six million homes.
The Montrose base is planned for the port’s South Harbour and is intended to support Berwick Bank B’s offshore operations over the wind farm’s expected operational life of more than 35 years.
SSE is progressing Berwick Bank B toward a Final Investment Decision expected in 2027; the project secured a 20-year generation contract in the UK government’s Contracts for Difference allocation round.
