Madden NFL 27 Arcade and Retro Bowl Join Apple Arcade, Reviving Mac Football.

PGA TOUR Pro Golf gains a new Bear's Best Atlanta course in the Arcade update.
Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition will not list Apple Vision Pro as a supported device; Apple has not listed Vision Pro as supported for this game.
Madden returns to Mac after a 19-year absence, marking a major milestone for the platform's Apple Arcade lineup.
Some Arcade titles can be previewed on the App Store without a subscription, including PowerWash Simulator, Mini Motorways, Cooking Mama: Cuisine!, and Play-Doh World.
Apple Arcade is priced at $6.99 per month with Family Sharing for up to five users, and Arcade access is included with Apple One bundles.
Madden NFL is coming back to Mac for the first time in 19 years. MacRumors reports that Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition launches on Apple Arcade on August 6, bringing full controller support across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV with no ads and no in-app purchases.
The game features current NFL rosters, Franchise mode, and Quick Play. A weekly story engine shapes season narratives, and player ratings update each week based on real NFL performance. Apple Insider calls it the biggest football release in Apple Arcade history.
Mac users last played a Madden game in 2006. That changes August 6. Mac Daily News confirmed the game runs natively on Mac as part of Apple Arcade. It also plays on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV — all with full controller support and a shared experience across devices.
Madden Ultimate Team, the popular card-collecting mode, is not included. Apple Arcade bans microtransactions and ads, so the mode was cut entirely. What remains is a clean, premium experience built around Franchise and Quick Play.
Franchise mode is more than just picking plays. WebWire reports that a weekly story engine pushes season-shifting narratives throughout the year. Think trade rumors, locker room drama, and fan sentiment swings that change how your season unfolds.
Player ratings also refresh every week based on real NFL performances. A hot streak by a quarterback could bump his rating mid-season. A struggling defense could see its numbers drop. It keeps the game tied to what's happening on real NFL fields.
Madden is not the only football game hitting Apple Arcade this summer. iPhone in Canada reports that Retro Bowl College+ joins the platform on August 6. Then on September 3, NFL Retro Bowl '27 arrives with a new Gauntlet Mode — a 15-game win-streak challenge with carryover progression between runs.
Gauntlet Mode adds a roguelike twist to the classic Retro Bowl formula. Win streaks carry over, so every game matters. It gives players a reason to keep coming back beyond a single season.
Existing Arcade sports games are getting upgrades alongside the new football titles. NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition adds cover athlete Paragon Tyrese Maxey and expanded historical data. PGA TOUR Pro Golf gains a new Bear's Best Atlanta course. Both updates arrive alongside the August 6 Madden launch.
Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month with Family Sharing for up to five users. It is also included in Apple One bundles. Some titles — including PowerWash Simulator and Mini Motorways — can now be previewed on the App Store without a subscription, lowering the barrier to try before you buy.
