Ottawa Senators defenceman Thomas Chabot says potential captaincy would be a huge honour

Thomas Chabot, a star defenceman for the Ottawa Senators, may be the next captain of one of Canada's seven NHL franchises. The opportunity would be a significant honour for Chabots, who has been an assistant captain to Brady (Tkachuk) for several years. With so many young players about to enter their prime, naming the next leader could signal a new era for the team. While ChabOT at age 29 has only two years remaining on his current deal, Tim Stutzle and Jake Sanderson, the other candidates for the āCā, have five and six years remaining. General manager Steve Staios has cautioned against rushing into the decision. No official date has been set for the captaincy announcement.
