Director Running Bear shot the video entirely in Mexico, leaning into the country's landscapes and nightlife. The story follows a romance across several settings. Musgraves has been open about what drove the project. "The truth is Texas would not be Texas without Mexico in many ways," she said. The video serves as a visual tribute to that influence, drawing on Mexican vaquero and rodeo culture that runs through Middle of Nowhere's DNA That Eric Alper.

The album blends Musgraves' Texas roots with heavy Mexican cultural influence, making it one of her most personal projects yet That Eric Alper.
"Mexico Honey" has become a standout track from the album. Its placement on the Billboard Hot 100 shows the song is connecting with a wide audience, not just country fans. The video release is timed to build buzz just before her tour begins Head Topics.
Musgraves launches her North American arena tour on August 21 at the United Center in Chicago. The run continues through October and includes two nights at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Midland is among the opening acts for the tour That Eric Alper.
