Clark's Record-Breaking 45-Point, 10-Assist Game Propels Fever Past Storm

Caitlin Clark contributed four steals and two blocks in the 110-107 win, adding an 11-for-18 shooting night with 6-for-10 from three and 17-for-19 from the free-throw line, underscoring her all-around impact beyond the 45 points and 10 assists.
Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 200 career three-pointers, achieving the milestone in 74 games and breaking Katie Smith’s previous record of 81 games.
Clark’s 45-point, 10-assist performance also set Indiana Fever’s single-game scoring record, surpassing Kelsey Mitchell’s previous Fever mark of 38.
The game was highlighted as a nationally televised showcase, underscoring Clark’s rising prominence on a national stage.
In the Fever’s following game against the Golden State Valkyries, Clark was making a return from a back injury but struggled, finishing 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting and dealing with a quad issue before returning in the second half.
Caitlin Clark made WNBA history on Friday night, scoring a career-high 45 points with 10 assists to lead the Indiana Fever past the Seattle Storm 110-107 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She became the first player in league history to post at least 40 points and 10 assists in a single game, according to AJC.
Clark went 11-for-18 from the field, 6-for-10 from three, and 17-for-19 from the free-throw line. She also added four steals and two blocks. The performance broke the Fever's single-game scoring record, topping the previous mark of 38 points set by teammate Kelsey Mitchell, Tippa News reported.
Clark's 40-point, 10-assist double-double had never been done before in WNBA history. No player had ever combined that level of scoring and playmaking in a single game, according to Eastern Herald. The feat drew immediate attention across the league and from fans watching the nationally televised game.
She also set a new league milestone for three-pointers. Clark reached 200 career three-pointers in just 74 games, the fastest any player has ever hit that mark. She broke the record previously held by Katie Smith, who needed 81 games to reach 200, Head Topics reported.
Clark did not do it alone. Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points of her own, and Monique Billings chipped in 16. Indiana needed every one of those points. The game was tight throughout, with the Storm pushing hard until the final buzzer.
Seattle's Dominique Malonga was excellent in the loss, finishing with 28 points and 14 rebounds. But it was not enough. The Storm dropped the game 110-107, their fourth straight loss, according to Newsy Today.
The Fever's momentum hit a wall in their next game. Indiana fell 88-75 to the Golden State Valkyries. Clark was returning from a back injury and it showed. She finished with just 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting.
Clark also dealt with a quad issue during the game but returned in the second half. The loss set up a rematch with Seattle, a pivotal game in what has become a critical stretch of the season for Indiana's title hopes, Tippa News noted.
Clark's performance was not just about the points. She achieved her 45-point game in less than 30 minutes of play, per Newsy Today. She also knocked down the milestone three-pointer that pushed her past Smith's all-time record, doing it in real time on national television.
The Fever are now leaning on Clark as their central piece heading into the postseason push. With a rematch against Seattle looming, her health and form will be the biggest storyline to watch. Friday's game showed what she is capable of when fully locked in.
