Akron Fan's Dream Offensive Coordinator Debut Ends In Costly Fumble

Marty Whims II was the offensive coordinator for Akron's Football Bowl Subdivision team, but his debut ended in disappointment when wide receiver Marcel Williams fumbled at the 37-yard line. Whims, a longtime season-ticket holder from Akron, was part of the "Offensive Coordinator of the Game" contest. Only season-ticket holders were eligible for the contest, which saw over 23 million social media views and a significant influx of new season ticket-holders. The winner was announced on Aug. 25.
