Atari and Digital Eclipse Launch Barbie Rewind, Blending Classic Games with DreamHouse Design

Atari and Digital Eclipse say the DreamHouse builder will feature “over 250 pieces of furniture, decorations, and accessories,” and players can pick from “three different retro DreamHouse exterior styles” before designing rooms.
The DreamHouse mode will include design requests from Barbie characters including Ken, Teresa, and Christie; completing those objectives grants experience points and additional customization options, plus an in-game lookbook.
Atari’s VP of Games Ethan Stearns framed the project around Barbie’s broader impact, saying, “For generations, Barbie has inspired confidence, imagination and empowerment,” adding that Atari is “excited that Atari can contribute to that legacy with Barbie Rewind.”
For the Nintendo Switch-exclusive Deluxe Physical Edition, the $59.99 package includes more than the numbered collector’s box, Atari-shirt doll, and poster: the doll is described as wearing an Atari t-shirt and blue jeans, with “long blonde hair with pink streaks.”
Atari and Digital Eclipse have announced Barbie Rewind, a new collection that bundles 16 classic Barbie games from the 1990s and early 2000s with a brand-new DreamHouse design mode. The package is priced at $29.99 and is set to launch across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Switch 2, and PC later in 2026, according to Games Press.
A Nintendo Switch-exclusive Deluxe Physical Edition will also be available for $59.99 on November 12, 2026. It comes with a numbered collector's box, a full-color poster, and a Barbie doll wearing an Atari t-shirt and blue jeans with long blonde hair with pink streaks, as reported by Nettos Game Room.
The new DreamHouse mode is the glue that holds the collection together. Players start by picking from three retro exterior styles for their DreamHouse. Then they fill rooms using over 250 pieces of furniture, decorations, and accessories, according to Noisy Pixel.
Players earn those items by completing achievements in the 16 retro games. Characters like Ken, Teresa, and Christie also send design requests. Finishing those requests earns experience points and unlocks more customization options. Players can save their looks in an in-game lookbook.
One of the biggest draws for game preservation fans is Barbie: Vacation Adventure. The game was originally planned for the SNES in the mid-1990s but was cancelled before release. Barbie Rewind will be its first-ever official commercial launch, according to Twisted Voxel.
The rest of the lineup includes well-known titles like Barbie Pet Rescue and Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race. All 16 games have been enhanced for modern consoles. Digital Eclipse is the studio behind the project — the same team known for the acclaimed Atari 50 collection.
Atari's VP of Games Ethan Stearns put the release in cultural terms. He said, "For generations, Barbie has inspired confidence, imagination and empowerment," and added that Atari is "excited that Atari can contribute to that legacy with Barbie Rewind," as quoted by Games Press.
The project draws from more than 65 years of Barbie fashion and decor history. Atari and Digital Eclipse say the goal is to connect longtime fans with new players through a retro-to-modern format. The collection spans games released from 1991 to 2007, according to Games Asylum.
The $59.99 Nintendo Switch Deluxe Edition is built for two different buyers. Gamers get the full software collection and a numbered collector's box. Doll fans get the Barbie figure in Atari gear — a crossover between toy retail and video game merchandise, as detailed by Noisy Pixel.
The standard edition at $29.99 covers digital and physical versions across all supported platforms. Nintendo physical editions — both standard and deluxe — have a confirmed street date of November 12, 2026. Pre-orders for the Deluxe Edition opened on the Atari and Limited Run Games storefronts on announcement day.
