Steven Yeun to Star in Netflix Horror-Drama Series Pagans From Joshua Zetumer

Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg joined as executive producers on Pagans in December, with production handled through Goddard Textiles.
Netflix also has another supernatural series in development tied to Pagans called Sid & Zoey, expanding the streamer’s horror slate.
As of now, the Pagans cast has only Yeun announced, making him the sole confirmed star for the series at this stage.
Joshua Zetumer, the creator of Hulu’s Say Nothing, will serve as Pagans’ showrunner.
Netflix has ordered Pagans straight-to-series with Steven Yeun set to star and executive produce the dark supernatural drama. The series follows Gus, a widowed father raising two children alone after his wife's death. His daughter Alice's behavior becomes increasingly sinister, blending emotional depth, horror, and humor to explore dark family themes. Creator and showrunner Joshua Zetumer, who wrote The Hollywood Reporter notes comes from FX's Say Nothing, leads the project with Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg as executive producers.
Steven Yeun, an Oscar nominee for Minari and Emmy winner, marks his return to Netflix in a starring TV role since the acclaimed drama Beef. Dread Central reports Yeun is known for films like Mayhem and Nope, and he brings significant prestige to the project as both lead actor and executive producer on Pagans.
This is Yeun's first major television lead at Netflix since Beef's success. He continues building a strong relationship with the streaming platform, with additional Netflix projects in development including the upcoming film Animals among other recent credits.
Joshua Zetumer created and will showrun Pagans, bringing experience from crafting the acclaimed Hulu drama Say Nothing. The Futon Critic highlights that Zetumer's track record with complex, layered storytelling makes him ideal for balancing the series' blend of family tragedy with supernatural horror and dark humor.
Zetumer serves as executive producer alongside Yeun. The creative team includes Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg through Goddard Textiles, with production handled by Celadon Pictures and additional support from Jonathan van Tulleken and Erica Kay overseeing development.
Pagans emerged from intense competition last September when Netflix secured the project against approximately 15 to 18 rival studios and platforms. The straight-to-series order—skipping the typical pilot stage—reflects Netflix's confidence in the creative team and concept for this supernatural family drama.
