Valorant Patch 13.06 Introduces Gauntlet Mode, Warden Rifle, and Mastery Progression

The teaser described Gauntlet: Glitched as a KAY/O combat simulation that has gone haywire. Footage showed players combining abilities such as Omen’s teleport, Jett’s dash and Chamber’s Headhunter, while apparent map sections from Bind and Breeze appeared in the mode.
The leaked Warden specifications suggest it may carry 18 rounds in its magazine and 90 in reserve, with movement speed reduced to about 4.104 m/s while aiming down sights compared with a 5.4 m/s base speed. The weapon’s design has also been compared with Counter-Strike’s SG 553 because of its built-in scope.
Early footage of the Agent Mastery system showed an Agent-specific “Act Level” progression screen for Sage, with experience earned simply by playing the game; the teaser also indicated that the system would include unlockable rewards.
The Warden would be VALORANT’s third automatic rifle after the Vandal and Phantom. The last weapon added to the game was reportedly the Bandit pistol, introduced in January 2026 with patch 12.00, which subsequently became a frequent choice in pistol and eco rounds.
The Warden’s visual design prompted comparisons to Counter-Strike’s SG 553, whose scope reduces recoil and improves accuracy at the cost of movement speed; analysts said this could position Riot’s rifle as a precision-oriented alternative rather than a close-range spray weapon.
Riot Games is shaking up VALORANT with patch 13.06, introducing the Warden, a fully automatic rifle designed to break the long-standing choice between the Vandal and Phantom. Dexerto reports the weapon will cost 2,900 credits and feature a 2x scope, prioritizing accuracy and long-range engagements over close-range firepower.
The update also brings Gauntlet: Glitched, a 2v2 tournament-style mode where players draft randomized abilities to create hybrid Robo-Agents, plus a new Agent Mastery system replacing the old Agent Gear progression tied to playtime and performance. Sportskeeda reports the mode features team fights with mixed ability combinations from different agents.
For years, VALORANT players have chosen between the Vandal and Phantom. Happy Gamer notes the Warden is the first third option to compete in this space since the game launched in 2020. The rifle features a built-in 2x scope and reduced movement speed while aiming down sights—about 4.1 m/s versus 5.4 m/s normally.
The leaked specs show the Warden carries 18 rounds per magazine with 90 in reserve. PC Gamer N reports it deals consistent damage at long range, positioning it as a precision weapon rather than a spray-and-pray close-quarters option like the Phantom.
The new 2v2 mode runs as a KAY/O combat simulation gone wrong. GameRiv describes it as a tournament-style format where teams of two draft randomized abilities from the full agent roster. Players can combine Omen's teleport, Jett's dash, and Chamber's Headhunter in the same loadout.
Map sections from Bind and Breeze appear in the mode's footage, creating hybrid play spaces. The chaotic ability combinations promise a fresh experience away from standard competitive matches. Riot is calling the mode experimental, testing how random utility changes the tactical landscape.
Sportskeeda reveals that the new Agent Mastery system ties progression directly to how much you play each agent. Early footage shows an agent-specific "Act Level" screen for Sage, where experience grows simply by queuing and winning matches. The system unlocks cosmetic and gameplay rewards as players level up.
This replaces Agent Gear, the previous cosmetic progression system. Competitive profile changes will also let players track and display ranked achievements more prominently. Riot plans to roll out a new Agent after Champions, keeping the roster fresh alongside these systemic updates.
Patch 13.06 brings VALORANT to Australia and New Zealand on console for the first time. The update also refreshes the home screen layout and allows players to access the Practice Range while queuing for matches, reducing downtime between games.
