Panthers and Bank of America Extend Naming Rights Amid $1.3 Billion Stadium Renovation Push

An Atrium-sponsored indoor facility adjacent to Bank of America Stadium will include a 100-yard football field inside the venue as part of the renovation.
A new 500-level 'social patio' will span the length of one end zone, adding a large outdoor social space along with other fan gathering areas inside and outside the stadium.
Exterior upgrades include upgraded materials and a signature illuminated crown for the Queen City skyline, signaling a redesigned look for the stadium's outside.
Renderings also show expanded indoor-outdoor gathering spaces across all levels and technology designed to create a more connected and personalized fan experience, plus premium offerings.
The Carolina Panthers and Bank of America have extended their long-term naming-rights deal, keeping the Charlotte stadium's name intact through a massive renovation set to wrap around 2030, according to Charlotte Observer. Owner David Tepper is adding $500 million to the project, bringing the total renovation cost to roughly $1.3 billion.
The city of Charlotte had already committed $650 million to the effort. Tepper Sports and Entertainment agreed to cover any overages. The upgrades aim to turn the stadium and its surroundings into a year-round destination — drawing events like the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft, and the 2031 Women's World Cup, Charlotte Observer reports.
One of the biggest additions is a new indoor facility next to Bank of America Stadium. Sponsored by Atrium Health, it will hold 4,400 seats and feature a full 100-yard football field inside. That makes it one of the more unusual stadium-adjacent venues in the NFL, according to Charlotte Observer.
The indoor venue is part of a broader plan to host 80 to 100 events per year. That is a sharp increase from the stadium's current event load. Tepper wants the area around the stadium to become what he calls a 'Charlotte corridor' — a hub for sports, music, and community gatherings, kentucky.com reported.
Inside, fans will see bigger scoreboards and new social spaces on every level. A new 500-level 'social patio' will run the full length of one end zone. That adds a large outdoor gathering spot that did not exist before, according to The Olympian.
Outside, the stadium gets a new look too. Upgraded materials and a signature illuminated crown will be added to the exterior. The crown is designed to stand out on the Charlotte skyline at night. New technology will also aim to give fans a more connected and personalized experience inside the building, bnd.com reported.
The work will not happen all at once. Interior renovations are set to begin this year. Exterior upgrades facing the street will start in 2027. The full project is expected to finish around 2030, according to San Luis Obispo Tribune.
Bank of America Stadium will keep hosting both the Panthers and Charlotte FC during construction. The phased approach is meant to keep the venue open and running throughout the process. Renderings released with the announcement show open gathering spaces and improved sightlines across all levels, Charlotte Observer reported.
