One Dead and Thirteen National Guard Members Injured in Oregon Crash

A four-vehicle crash in Oregon left one person dead and injured 16 others, including 13 Oregon National Guard members. The Ford Ranger pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a Ram 1500 before hitting an eastbound passenger van carrying 11 Guard members, causing serious injuries. The driver of the Ford Ranger, Markham Marshall Stangland, died at the scene and investigators believe he was not wearing a seat belt. The other two trucks were also taken to hospitals with minor injuries. In all, 17 people were involved in the crash, which led to a significant response from multiple regional emergency agencies and closed Highway 30 for four hours.
