The US women's basketball team won their fifth consecutive FIBA World Cup title, defeating France 97-79. The victory extended the Americans' 36 consecutive World Cup wins, dating back to the 2006 World Cup. Despite facing a 14-point deficit in the first half, the team managed to claw back the deficit. They dominated the second half with a 16-3 run, leading to a 73-57 lead. This was the second-youngest team the Americans have sent to a World Cup, with many newcomers on the roster including Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers. Despite the loss, France's performance was their best ever in the event.
