Justice Department seizes over half a million dollars in cryptocurrency donations for Hamas

The FBI has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations intended for Hamas, marking a disruption of financing for the militant group. The funds were intended for the Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, and the Justice Department has taken control of website domains and communication platforms used for fundraising and recruitment. The FBI also obtained information about thousands of people who had contacted Hamas with a goal of giving money to them. The operation was announced by Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, who warned against complacency and stated that the FBI will continue to use its authorities to intercept illicit funds.
