Unsettled Weekend Weather Expected Across Arkansas and Ireland, Bringing Showers and Thunderstorms

Forecasts for the weekend both warn of unsettled weather, with periods of rain and thunderstorms in parts of the United States and ongoing wet, breezy conditions in Ireland. In northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, conditions are expected to be mostly dry early Friday with a small chance of brief showers or thunderstorms that may bring heavy rain and lightning, then taper overnight while clouds increase. Saturday and Sunday are flagged as “impact” days, with more widespread chances for showers and occasional thunderstorms and a possibility of stronger storms, though widespread severe weather is not expected. In Ireland, Met Éireann predicts rain or showers each day over the weekend, with breezy conditions at times, including more persistent and heavy rain developing through Friday night and into Saturday before gradually easing. Temperatures are expected to be cool for early summer, with additional rain and drizzle returning later on Saturday, leaving the weekend largely unsettled overall.
In northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, meteorologist coverage warned that any Friday storms are “fairly quick in, quick out,” but can still produce “some heavy rain” and “quite a bit of lightning,” with the 20–30% shower/thunder chance sticking around from lunchtime into the afternoon.
That same briefing said the shower/thunderstorm chances move out by tonight, leaving “cloudy skies” but “everyone will stay dry” after the evening storms exit.
Met Éireann forecast a Friday improvement pattern in Ireland: it would be less showery and breezier for a time, with “some sunny spells too” (best across the east and north) and generally dry conditions in the east—while scattered showers persisted “further west and north.”
Met Éireann also provided more granular wind and timing details for Friday night: rain becomes widespread and “heavy in places too, particularly in the south,” with east to south-east winds “increasing moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty,” becoming “strong at times in some coastal parts,” plus mist and hill fog.
For Saturday, Met Éireann said the wet phase does ease at first in some areas—“a clearance to mostly dry conditions with some bright or sunny spells will move into the south-west and west early in the morning”—but cloud builds again in the west later in the day, bringing more rain and drizzle, and Saturday night’s rain/drizzle is “mainly for the south-west, west and north-west.”
