Ukrainian Drone Strikes Damage Multiple Russian Refineries Amid Escalating Regional Energy Conflicts

Ukrainian drone attacks disrupted operations at several Russian refineries. In Samara region, strikes and fires at Rosneft’s Kuibyshev refinery destroyed three storage tanks, damaged pipelines and a pumping station, and halted crude processing; gasoline sales from the wider refinery group reportedly fell. Ukrainian strikes also set the Ilsky refinery in Krasnodar region ablaze, damaged the Novoshakhtinsk refinery, and reportedly halted operations at the Perm refinery. Separately, Russian strikes killed eight people in Ukraine on Sunday, including three at a children’s centre in Sumy, and damaged homes and civilian facilities in Kyiv, Odesa and elsewhere; President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had launched about 3,900 drones, bombs and missiles over the preceding week. The attacks come amid an intensifying campaign against energy infrastructure and civilian sites, with Moscow reporting the interception of large numbers of Ukrainian drones.
