Diane Ademu-John and Declan de Barra, veterans of *Dune: Prophecy* and *The Witcher: Blood Origin*, are set as co-showrunners and executive producers, according to Broadway World. No premiere date has been announced.

The central hook of *Bone Parish* is The Ash, a narcotic crafted from cremated human remains. Users who take it experience visions of the dead person's past. The Winters family controls The Ash trade in New Orleans, but their growing power draws in rival gangs and dangerous outside forces, according to Dread Central.
The original 12-issue graphic novel was written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Jonas Scharf. BOOM! Studios published the first issue in July 2018. BOOM! executives Stephen Christy and Mette Norkjaer will executive produce the TV adaptation alongside Jackson, Media Play News reported.

Jackson called the project a deliberate break from the familiar. Jackson's relationship with Starz stretches back to 2014 and the launch of *Power*. The *Power* franchise has since grown to 176 episodes across 18 seasons of television. *Bone Parish* marks his first move with the network into the supernatural genre, per Urban Hollywood 411.

After separating from Lionsgate in May 2024, Starz is now building a slate it fully owns — keeping 100% of merchandise, international, and home media revenue.
*Bone Parish* is one of two new genre projects announced on June 30, 2026. The other, *Wolf King*, is being developed by Tanya Saracho. Starz currently has about 20 million global subscribers and is racing to replace licensed content with proprietary IP it can monetize long-term, per Head Topics.
A Packed Starz Slate Builds Toward Summer and Beyond
*Bone Parish* lands as Starz juggles several major productions at once. *Power: Origins* — a prequel following Ghost and Tommy's early years — began shooting in New York in November 2025. *Power: Legacy*, which reunites Tariq St. Patrick and Tommy Egan, was greenlit on June 4, 2026, for an 8-episode first season, according to Media Play News.
The network's first fully owned original series, *Fightland*, is set to premiere on July 31, 2026. *Outlander: Blood of My Blood* Season 2 follows on September 18, 2026. With *Bone Parish* still in early development, it is unlikely to air before 2027 at the earliest.
