Lisa becomes the first Asian solo artist to win Best Pop at the VMAs.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa won Best Pop at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards for her solo song “Dream,” becoming the first Asian and K-pop solo artist to win the award. BTS had previously won the category as a group in 2020. Lisa became emotional during her acceptance speech, which opened with a greeting in Thai, and thanked her collaborators and fans. She also made the live awards-show debut of “SaWaDiKa,” a new single from her upcoming EP “Press Play,” with a performance featuring dancers and Thai-inspired visuals. “Dream” was also nominated for Best K-Pop, Best Editing and Best Cinematography.
The Best Pop win was Lisa’s fourth solo VMA victory; she had previously won solo VMAs in 2022, 2024 and 2025.
“SaWaDiKa” had already reached No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 7 on the Digital Song Sales chart before Lisa performed it at the VMAs.
Lisa’s performance included a life-sized tuk-tuk, which she rode while performing, and ended with a dance break and a final pose atop the vehicle.
Lisa was also nominated for Best K-Pop alongside BLACKPINK for the group’s 2025 hit “Jump.”
