CFS Investment Advisory Boosts Stakes in US Small Cap, Defense Tech ETFs, Adjusts Other Holdings

In Dimensional U.S. Small Cap ETF (DFAS), Creative Planning increased its DFAS stake by 12.1% in the third quarter, now owning 22,684,991 shares valued at about $1.553 billion.
In Global X Defense Tech ETF (SHLD), Triad Wealth Partners LLC boosted its stake by 112.9% in Q1 to 214,036 shares, worth about $15.16 million.
In Dimensional International Value ETF (DFIV), RFG Advisory LLC increased its position by 1.4% in the fourth quarter, now holding 14,178 shares worth about $707,000.
iShares Core MSCI EAFE ETF (IEFA) had notable price context: opened at $96.31, with a 50-day moving average around $96.71 and a 52-week high/low of $98.83/$81.17.
CFS Investment Advisory Services LLC made bold moves in its ETF portfolio during the first quarter, nearly tripling its stake in the Dimensional U.S. Small Cap ETF (DFAS) and sharply expanding its defense tech holdings. The firm boosted its DFAS position by 183.5%, bringing its total to 22,809 shares worth about $1.76 million, according to Watchlist News.
At the same time, CFS grew its position in the Global X Defense Tech ETF (SHLD) by 67.3% to 179,757 shares. That holding is now worth roughly $13.2 million and ranks as the firm's 29th largest position, representing about 0.9% of its total portfolio, Watchlist News reported.
CFS is not alone in building up its defense tech exposure. Triad Wealth Partners LLC also increased its SHLD stake sharply in Q1, buying up 112.9% more shares to reach 214,036 shares worth about $15.16 million, according to Watchlist News. The Global X Defense Tech ETF tracks companies that make weapons systems, cybersecurity tools, and military equipment.
The broader trend points to growing investor interest in defense spending. Government budgets for military technology have climbed in recent years, and ETFs like SHLD give investors a simple way to bet on that trend without picking individual stocks.
While CFS was buying into small caps and defense, it pulled back from other areas. The firm cut its stake in the Dimensional International Value ETF (DFIV) by 14.1%, leaving it with 367,348 shares worth about $20.4 million. It also trimmed its iShares Core MSCI EAFE ETF (IEFA) position by 8.0% to 67,002 shares, valued at roughly $6.53 million, according to Ticker Report.
CFS also shrank its SPDR Portfolio Long Term Treasury ETF (SPTL) position by 2.8%, bringing it to 785,454 shares worth around $20.8 million. The moves suggest the firm is shifting money away from international stocks and long-term bonds and toward U.S. small caps and defense.
CFS is a small player in DFAS compared to others. Creative Planning owns 22,684,991 shares of the Dimensional U.S. Small Cap ETF, worth about $1.553 billion. Creative Planning grew its own DFAS stake by 12.1% in the third quarter, according to Ticker Report. That dwarfs CFS's 22,809-share stake by a wide margin.
Still, CFS's 183.5% jump in DFAS shares signals conviction. U.S. small cap stocks have drawn fresh attention from investors who expect domestic companies to benefit from trade policy shifts and a focus on American manufacturing.
The iShares Core MSCI EAFE ETF, which tracks developed markets in Europe, Asia, and Australia, opened recently at $96.31. Its 50-day moving average sits near $96.71, while its 52-week range runs from a low of $81.17 to a high of $98.83, according to Ticker Report. The ETF gives investors broad exposure to large and mid-cap stocks outside the U.S. and Canada.
RFG Advisory LLC took the opposite approach from CFS, adding to its international value exposure. RFG increased its DFIV position by 1.4% in the fourth quarter, ending up with 14,178 shares worth about $707,000, according to Ticker Report.
