Experienced Wingsuit Jumper Dies Following Fatal Fall in Utah Canyon

A 27-year-old experienced BASE jumper died Sunday after a wingsuit jump from about 700 feet went wrong near Leetham’s Hollow, east of Millville Canyon in Cache County, Utah. Authorities said his wingsuit did not provide enough lift, and he struck the ground at high speed. He was pronounced dead at the scene; responders from Life Flight, the Utah Department of Public Safety, and local search-and-rescue, fire, and sheriff’s teams assisted. Officials have not released his identity while notifying his next of kin.
Cache County Search and Rescue was alerted to the accident at about 9:10 a.m.; the jump was part of an outing involving roughly eight to 10 people.
Leetham’s Hollow is a popular location for BASE jumping, according to the sheriff’s office.
The response involved aircraft operating in rugged terrain, and Life Flight personnel helped extract the jumper from the area.
