EverBank to combine with WaFd in $3.9 billion reverse merger creating public entity.

EverBank and WaFd are set to merge in a $3.9 billion reverse merger, creating a regional bank with $75 billion in assets. The deal will allow EverBank to become a publicly traded company, changing its name to EverBank Financial Corp and trading under the new ticker symbol EVBK on the Nasdaq. Once completed, EverBank investors will collectively own about 59.2% of the combined company, while WaF shareholders will own the remaining 40.8%. The merger is expected to close in early 2027 and is projected to increase WaF's 2027 earnings per share by roughly 29% and recover tangible book value dilution within two years.
