Roslovic has scored 20 or more goals in three of his last four seasons. That includes 22 goals with Carolina the year before and 21 with Edmonton this past season, according to Daily Faceoff. Over his 595-game NHL career, he has 123 goals and 296 points total.
He can play both center and right wing. Sportsnet noted he has won 53% of faceoffs over the last two years. That kind of versatility lets the Leafs plug him into the middle six or move him up to the top line alongside captain Auston Matthews.

Roslovic and Matthews were teammates on the U.S. National Team Development Program, where they finished first and second in team scoring. Hockey Patrol reported that analysts see the signing partly as a way to pair Matthews with a trusted, fast linemate who already knows his game.

Toronto did not issue a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Matias Maccelli. His qualifying offer would have cost $4.1 million, according to The Athletic. By letting him walk, the Leafs cleared space to sign Roslovic at $4 million — slightly cheaper, with a higher scoring floor.
Maccelli, 25, had scored just 14 goals last season and was a frequent healthy scratch under the previous coaching staff. He signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal with the New York Islanders shortly after Toronto released him, Sportsnet reported.
