Progressive Councilwoman Nithya Raman Overtakes Spencer Pratt, Securing Runoff Spot in LA Mayor Primary

The Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has surpassed former reality TV personality Spencer Pratt in the second place in the Los Angeles mayoral runoff, according to updated vote totals from the LA County Registrar-Recorder. Raman, a progressive Democrat representing the city's 4th Council District, now holds 27.12% of the counted ballots. The gap between the two candidates is 3,113 votes. The top two in the nonpartisan primary are now set to go to the November 3 general election.
