Brandon McNulty Wins First US Road World Title Since 1993 in Montreal

Brandon McNulty won the men’s elite road race at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montreal, attacking solo with about 32 kilometres remaining to finish the 273.4-kilometre race in 6:17:04. He held off a disorganised chase that closed to around 10 seconds on the final climb. Australia’s Michael Matthews took silver and the Netherlands’ Mathieu van der Poel bronze, while American Quinn Simmons finished in the leading group. McNulty became the first American man to win the title since 1993; defending champion Tadej Pogačar missed the race after crashing at the Vuelta a España.
