Israeli Settler Attack on West Bank Village Injures Forces and Draws Rare Rebuke

More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village in the West Bank, causing three security officers to be injured. The military said the settlers blocked roads, set tires on fire and threw rocks at security forces, and also set fire to Palestinian buildings and vehicles. The attack came amid international criticism of settler violence, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu downplayed in an address at the United Nations. President Isaac Herzog called the attack a "moral stain," an assault on the rule of law and a violation of Israel's fundamental values. In a separate attack, dozens of settlers raided the Palestinian village of al-Mughayyir. Israel has occupied the West West Bank since 1967 and has accelerated settlement expansion there.
